Laser medicine is just as old as light medicine because light existed even before any form of life came into existence on Earth. Laser light has been existing in the stars ever since the Universe was created. Light has been the originator, the generator and the maintainer of life on Earth. Light has not only caused life to arise on Earth. It has also caused its maintenance and survival through its fluctuations and resonance mechanisms. Ever since single-celled and multi-cellular living organisms have taken form on Earth, they have been living in patterns of life that have been concordant to the manifestations of light on Earth, its major ones being day and night, with special effects of sunlight at dawn and sunset. The resonant mechanisms of light on living beings as well as the concordant life behaviour patterns to light will be elaborated later.

So far as recordable human history is concerned, light has been used since ancient days by all races and civilizations that have existed on Earth. 

Light has been used by great doctors, healers and laymen as well of such great civilizations like those of India, China, Egypt and America. In Indian and Chinese Taoist Yoga, light has been used to heal the body and balance its energy flow. Sunlight of the morning and evening has also been used for specific stimulative and calming purposes. Light of the moon has also been used for treating mental and psycho-somatic disorders, including those of the cardiovascular, endocrine and urogenital systems. Menstrual irregularities were being successfully treated by using appropriate doses of moon light combined with special respiratory exercises and postures from ancient Indian and Chinese Taoist yogic sciences. As a matter of fact, these exercises of light (sun light and moon light) are still existing today alone or in combination with respiratory and postural (asanic) exercises. 

In ancient Egypt where the cult of the Sun God Ra was developed, it is more than obvious that similar healing with sun light was widely practiced. In ancient America, ancient civilizations like those of the Aztecs and Mayas also venerated the Sun and Moon and knew the value of their light therapeutic effects. It should be emphasized that the principles of healing with sun and moon light in various civilizations around the globe were more or less the same in terms of light applications on the human body though each civilization developed these light therapies apparently independently from one another. Some transmission of knowledge in this field of light therapy and traditional natural therapies from one civilization to another cannot be excluded.
